Just Around the Corner

About this painting

I painted this scene on Central Avenue in Alameda for the Frank Bette Plein Air Paintout. I focused on capturing my own experience of this lively street rather than painting the exact likeness of the scene.

A local critic said, "I love the way Jaladhi used the muted terracotta and dusty peach to create this really warm feeling of an otherwise hard streetscape."

Another local critic wrote, "Jaladhi Pujara uses diffusion in "Just Around the Corner" which shows a street extending into the deep space which is also the future, indistinct, and unknowable."
